Randomness

Brent and I were cleaning my house on Saturday morning when I hear him say, "Mom, are you expecting company?" I say "No". Then he says, "Grandma is in the driveway." I didn't believe him, because my 85 year old mother lives in Ocala and has recently moved into assisted living. From day one, she has been telling me that she wants to give her car to my youngest son because she does not drive anymore and that I should pick it up. I guess I did not move quick enough.

She talked my sister into driving it to my house, but did not tell us that they were coming. I opened my door to find them standing there. Mom hands me a set of car keys and says, "Here is the car for Brent. Can you call us a cab?" At first I was quite confussed. I thought that I had a brain freeze and forgot that they were coming for a visit. Turns out they decided on Thursday to drive here on Friday, drop the car off and take a greyhound bus back to Florida. They stayed at my house for a total of 45 minutes.
I had enough time to buy them milk shakes before they took off again. It was quite an effort for them to make that long drive. I wish they would have stayed a little longer.

When my Mom makes her mind up about something, she does not waste any time. I am now the owner of FOUR cars. My son does not turn sixteen for a while still.

My driveway is starting to look like a used car lot.

Murfreesboro Win Photos

I was asked when I would post the win photos of Rush from Murfreesboro. Ta-dah, here they are. I am pretty pleased with them, but always like the photos so much better once I crop myself out of them.

Nashville, TN - Day 2

Rush was RWD today, so not much to report. I think it was only a 3 point major because there was one no-show. I'm not sure that I agree with the choice for WD though because I thought Rush was the best dog in the ring today. :o) But, maybe I am biased.

My husband thinks that the AKC needs to come up with a new rule. It goes something like this: After a dog wins X amount of major reserves, they should automatically earn at least 1 point just because they have beat so many other dogs.

I kind of like the idea. It would place a little more importance on Reserve than just being the best loser. What do you think?

Nashville, TN - Yippee!

Today is Rush's birthday and he celebrated turning 1 year old in a big way. We showed to Marieann Gladstone in Nashville, TN. Rush went WD, BOW and BOS for a 4 point major. Marieann was really great and kept giving me compliments on him every time she was close to me.

I went out to lunch with Jeri, Laura and Cheryl to celebrate. Just to be sure, I went back to the show site afterwards to check the tear sheets. Yup, it was true. There he is, number 23.

Rush now just needs 4 singles to finish. Tomorrow's judge is Steve Gladstone. I have my fingers crossed for another repeat performance. :o)

Thank you Jeri, for snapping the picture for me.

Guntersville, AL

Fall break was last week. As the boys get older and busier, we find that we don't have too many weekends to spend together any more, so we decided to spend some time on Lake Gunter.

We rented this cabin on the lake.

The view from the back door.

Kenny and Rush quickly staked claim on the hammock.

When he wasn't lounging, Rush liked to play guard dog.

While Mike and Brent went golfing . . .

Kenny and I decided to have lunch at the Lodge.

Rumor has it that the owners spent 4 years and 7 million dollars renovating the place. It just reopened this year. They did a nice job.

The view of the lake was awesome. It was kind of hazy that day, so my camera did not really do it justice.

On another afternoon, Brent and I decided to hike to the waterfalls while Mike and Kenny watched football. We hiked for an hour, but never found it. We decided that because of the lack of rain, it might have dried up.

When we got back to the cabin, Brent and Rush turned into couch potatoes. We then held a "Longest Fingers" contest. Brent won. :o)

Here are my 3 men.

We hope to return in several weeks when the leaves are in full color.

East/West

D.C. Confidential from 2 Things put together another neat collage from last week's entries. Here it is. I think it is fun to see how people interpret the topic.

The subject for this coming week is black/white.

Lazy Dogs

The topic of the week was "Lazy".
Starting at a very early age . . . .

I think that . . .

dogs have a very good grasp . . . .

on the concept of lazy.

Sky Watch Friday

I took this on the Big Island in Hawaii. I liked all the contrasts in the picture. The white is pieces of coral and the black is lava. I also liked the faint mountains in the background.

He's On Vogue

Hey, look! Rush is a now a star.

I found this tool on Kim's blog. Too fun. Go here to check out more.
