A Lesson Learned

A simple bone. Innocent looking enough, right? I have been buying my dogs these bones from my grocery store for years. They love them. The bones come in sleeves and are filled with marrow.

But look what happened today. Caity managed to get one stuck on her jaw. It was lodged behind her teeth. We spent a good portion of the day trying to get it off without breaking any teeth or her jaw.

I am happy to report that at the end of the day, we were successful at removing it. I have since thrown away every single one of them that I am finding in the house or yard. And I will never buy that kind again.

Very scary!! I have heard of this happening. I can't imagine how scary for you and Caity. I am glad you managed to get it off!

Elli has done that with the short, ring-shaped marrow bones like that. I started buying the longer ones after that, and no more problems. Scary trying to get them off, though!
