Wrestling
My boys can never let the grass grow under their feet, so Brent decided to join the High School wrestling team. He had his first tournament yesterday. It was in a very hot and very crowded gym. My husband arrived after lunch. As he sat down on the bleachers by me he said, "Ahhhh, just smell that testosterone". Ewwww. It must be a guy thing.
We counted at least 10 schools there. It started at 8:00 am and finshed up at 10:30 pm. What a long day! I think it lasted so long because they only had 3 mats going.
Brent was in the 127 lb class with 20 other boys.
That's Brent in the blue.
During one match, he split his lip and got blood on the mat. They had to stop the match to wipe up the floor and Brent.
Brent and his coach wait for his next match.
But the really cool thing was that not only did Brent come home with a split lip, he also came home with a 3rd place medal out of 20 boys. Not too shabby for a newbie, huh? Friday, November 21, 2008

Priceville, AL - Drum Roll Please . . .
I am very pleased to introduce my first Bred-By Champion:
Today Rush was WD, BOW and BOS for his last point. YAY! Jeri and Lizzie the Lovely have news too, but I will let her post it on her blog.
(Jeri pointed out that the angle of the photo is awkward. It makes him look cobby, but he isn't. Hopefully, the photographer's is better.)

Dare I hope for that last point tomorrow?

Priceville, AL - Day 2
It was a repeat performance for Rush. He was WD and BOW for another point. But the cool part was that he got a Group 3 in the Herding Bred-By! Judge Joanne Paulk was really great. She told me that she went the Cardigan National this year because she is working towards being certified in the Herding Group. She gave me great compliments on his lovely wrap and that she had not seen many fronts as nice as his. OK, so my head just swelled for just one moment because she was talking about my baby. :o)
Now back to reality . . . . we still have 2 more points to go.

Pricevile, AL - Day 1
Today was day 1 of our local dog show. I am pleased to say that Rush was WD and BOW for 1 point. Only 3 more to go for his CH. Fingers crossed that by Monday, I can add those letters to the front of his name. :o) Jeri with her lovely Lizzie was BOB. I did not stay for Groups because I had to go into work, so I don't know how they did.

Tate Farms
Fall is not complete for our family without at least one trip to Tate Farms. It is a great family-owned business that opens up to the public for the month of October. My first visit there was on a field trip with Kenny's 2nd grade class.
They always decorate and have many cute things to look at . . .
. . . . and lots of different equipment for the "kids" to play on.
There plenty of beautiful horizions to look at for the "Sky Watch" people.
We decided to go on the hay ride in search of the perfect pumpkin.
Kenny studies the crops . . . .
and spots it.
Success!
He loaded it into the back of the trailer and we headed back to the farm.
I am not sure who those people are but I thought their John Deere diaper bag was pretty funny.
The Tates always grow a great variety of colorful, lumpy, bumpy gourds. Some of them are so ugly that they are really cute. I buy bunches of them and put them every where in the house. (Note. If you own Cardigans, do not put them on your coffee table in a pretty glass bowl. The dogs think that you have put out tasty snacks for them and eat them.)
We hit the jackpot this year. Kenny and I went on closing day. We stopped by their little shop on the way out. A young kid that worked there told us that he was totally sick of pumpkins. He gave us a cart and said for $20 we could take what ever we could fit in it. Kenny snagged this big boy for starters. I should have had him stand in the picture for a size comparison. I am sure that it weighs as much as my 3 dogs combined. I now have pumpkins and gourds EVERYWHERE.I love fall.

Saturday Photo Hunt
The theme this week was "Blue".
After looking at my recent postings, I realized that lately it has been pretty much dominated by a certain black dog. So this theme is a perfect time to give my pretty blue dog, Dixie, some air time.

Here is a summer photo of Dixie catching some summer rays and lounging by the pool in Ocala, FL.
