Perennials

This is the time of year that I run out of material to photograph. It’s hot and dry. All of my flowers have faded out. Right now, there pretty much is nothing blooming in my yard except a few boring flower pots. Oh, and a yellow lantana that for some mysterious reason has rebloomed for about 3 or 4 years now. I thought they were supposed to be annuals.

I have a question. What perennials bloom well for you right now? I would like to make a few new additions to my garden.

The Results Are In

I just checked the OFA website. Dixie's results are posted. I had no idea that she had so many half siblings through the sire. I took a look at their OFA results. It was nice to see that all of them tested out at either Good or Fair. None were displastic. :o) I think all I have to do to get the CHIC Certification is have her microchipped.

A Nice Suprise

I am constantly learning something new about dogs. Last summer, my vet mentioned that it was possible to have the slides from Penn Hip submitted to OFA. I had Dixie's hips done about 4 years ago through Pen Hip. She came out with a decent rating, so I asked him retrieve those x-rays and send them to OFA. It was a very long and drawn out process, but yesterday I received a nice surprise in the mail. Just when I had pretty much given up hope on ever seeing it materialize, Dixie’s certificate arrived saying that she was OFA Good. I didn't think that OFA would find anything unexpected, but I was still happy to see the positive score. I now just have to wait a week or 2 before it is published on the OFA website. Yay Dixie!

Bluebonnet Regional Specialty - Day 3 & 4

Rush took first in the Bred-by class on Saturday. but that was about it. The big news is that Jeri's pretty girl, Lizzie, took Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite over specials to finish her Championship. Yay Lizzie !! Oh, did I mention that Jeri did all this with a busted toe? She cracked the night before we left for the show. What a trooper. :o)

Cardigans pulled a lousy ring time today, 2:00 pm. Since we had almost a 12 hour drive to head home, Jeri and I decided not to stay for it. I am not sure yet where our next show will be.

Bluebonnet Regional Specialy - Day 2

Day 2 in Houston - Rush took Reserve Winners Dog again on a 4 point major under Judge Linda More. He has been getting a lot of attention and many compliments, so I have been having quite a bit of fun.

But, I am still hoping for that number 1 spot tomorrow though. Jeri snapped this picture of us while we were getting our win photo taken. Pretty boy, Rush-A-Roo. :-)

Bluebonnet Regional Specialty - Day 1

My friend, Jeri and I have ventured down to Houston, TX with our cardigans to compete at the Regional Specialty. This is by far the largest show that I have ever attended.
It's a nice show site, lots of grooming space, great air conditioning and has a ton of vendors. I will have to do some shopping tomorrow. Animal Planet is here filming for a show that will air October 4th. Both sexes pulled majors all weekend and there are some very nice dogs here. Anyways, I am pleased to say that Rush took Reserve Winners Dog today. Of course, I would have liked to win the major, but the judge was long-time cardigan breeder Nancy Cunliffe. She had some very nice things to say about Rush. Since he is my first bred-by, it is the next best thing to winning a major. Hopefully tomorrow, he moves ahead one more space in the line though. :-)
I had his win photo taken and will post it later. Of by the way, it is hot as blazes here. Melt.

Lacey

Here is Lacey' photo from the hotest dog show on earth (Fletcher, NC). For some reason, I have not yet received the one for Rush. Once I get it, I will post that one too.
